The history of the Malkastenpark dates back to the second half of the 18th century: Councillor of Commerce Johann Conrad Jacobi purchased a small estate in Pempelfort in 1742 and had a baroque garden with a parterre and avenue built. His son Friedrich Heinrich Jacobi converted the park into an “art park” in the landscape style.
In 1848 the Malkasten Artists’ Association purchased the Jacobi estate and took over the property.
