The square was named on 15.12.1930 after the inventor Henry Goebel
From November 2010 to May 2011, the site was redesigned and upgraded as part of the investment program National UNESCO World Heritage Sites according to historical model. The formerly diverse shrub plantations and colored perennials were restored. Along the sidewalks, sick street trees were felled and replaced by new plantings, so that the framing of whitetail trees now yields a closed picture again.
