A landscaped promenade overlooking the ocean on the Funchal waterfront, on the island of Madeira. It is flanked on the north by Avenida do Mar and the Madeiran Communities and on the south by the sea, extending from the pier, close to the São Lourenço Palace and from the beginning of Avenida Gonçalves Zarco, to Praça da Autonomia. In front of the square, to the north, are notoriously located, among others, the buildings of the Legislative Assembly of Madeira, the National Republican Guard, the Captaincy of the Port of Funchal and the Customs of Funchal.
