The first buildings were close to neighboring birds with a front wall of the net intended for small exotic birds and opposite them like predators. Stable horses were built, and with the emergence of increasing numbers of toys, cages, pens and a pond for waterfowl gradually appeared. The administration building, which was the only heated building in the zoo, created terrariums and fish ponds, as well as monkey rooms. Although the development in the early years of the Zoo was very fast, it was always bothering the lack of buildings and quarters for the winter animals. Often newly acquired animals only temporarily placed, which was reflected in the low mortality and breeding rate.
For the zoo it was originally measured an area of about 8 hectares, but when it was used only 2 hectares. In the early years of the zoo's existence, about 50 animal species were preserved. Small birds and mammals mostly came from Czechoslovakia animals. Gradually, the composition of the animals kept extended. Among the most important animals in the early history of the zoo, we can for example name the Malaysian bears, at that time, the only animals in the Czech Republic, rhesus monkeys, baboons, brown bears, and catastrophic wolves that breed regularly. , Cyclist, storks, heron and more.
