Part of the Selva Taruka Institute for Landscape and Garden Research.
The park was established on January 1, 1963 under an agreement between the Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences and the Ministry of Agriculture by designating part of the Ornamental Horticulture Research Institute as originally independent. Along with the plots, part of the staff and scientific assignments are transferred from the Ornamental Garden Research Institute to the new institution. Around the same time, another institution of the Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences, the Institute of Botany, is created from the Geoscience Laboratory.
