  Zoo of national importance in the city of Рівне.

  The Rivne Zoo is the first in Ukraine where polar wolves were imported from the Czech Republic and their offspring were obtained.
  
  The zoo also collaborates closely with other zoos in Ukraine, including Lutsk, Mykolaiv and Odessa.

  The Rivne Zoo begins in its history in 1982, when an 11.17-hectare plot of land was built on the eastern outskirts of the city, at the initiative of the Rivna Regional Organization of the Ukrainian Society for the Conservation of Nature.
  
  The first inhabitants - representatives of local animals - were imported from the region's forests and from the collection of the Regional Museum of Local Peoples. These were wild boars, wolves, foxes and elk. A brown bear was brought from the circus, which for a long time delighted visitors to the zoo and survived here until old age. Then began active cooperation with zoos in the Soviet Union at the time. Even at the zoo appeared monkeys, deer, bison, camels, Himalayas, bears and various birds.
  
  From 1985 to 1988, she continued to develop the zoo. At this time, new birds appeared, a series of industrial reservoirs, a new office space where the basin began. Due to the enthusiasm of the zoo staff, the group of animals was renewed with new species, and the formation of a group of terrarium animals began.
  
  Within 10 years, as a structural unit of the Association of Cultural Parks, the corner of the zoo was built, and the landscape was implemented. In 1992, by decision of the City Council, the zoo was registered as a separate legal entity.
  
  In 1998, by decree of the President of Ukraine, the Rivne Zoo was granted a place of national importance (341341/98 dated 9/12/1998), and its territory was recognized as a target of the Natural Reserve Fund of Ukraine.
  
  Today's zoo is a collection of 150 species of animals, a favorite holiday destination and a walk for the whole family. The main part of the zoo is the remains of an old orchard and only 4.7 hectares of natural forest within the city.
  
  There are more than 130 species of trees, shrubs and grassy plants in the zoo.
  
  There is a veterinarian at the zoo, where the working day starts with a tour of the area and inspect the animals. Timely preventive vaccinations, destruction of parasites, disinfection is also the function of our doctor. Sick animals are given the necessary medical care.
  
  Taking care of good animals contributes to their offspring. Therefore, approximately 30 species of animals are born in the zoo every year.
  
  The zoo is a scientific and educational institution whose main functions are the conservation and reproduction of endangered species of animals and the promotion of natural knowledge among the population. You can learn more about each animal in detail by reading the information kiosks, getting qualified information from zoo specialists, and requesting a guided tour.
  
  Along with scientific and educational functions, the zoo plays a more important role in organizing leisure and recreation for the residents.
  
  Every year at the zoo there are traditional holidays - the opening season, child protection day, oil.
  
  More than 150,000 people visit the zoo every year.
