Mariupol developed the city park in 1863 at the mouth of the beam Wedge, on a high hill because of the fact that fruit trees were growing here along Mala Svoboda Street. The park has experienced two major stages in its development. The first was the period of planting trees, and the second led to the creation of a large garden. In 1889, at the request of the city council, the famous gardener Mariupol and public figure Psalm Georgi Grigorovich subjected the garden to a complete and radical redevelopment. The new garden included, as separate parts, old farms with significant changes in the original layout. With installation in 1910, a water fountain appeared in the garden. The city park is open, as it was then posted on the streets of the declaration, "for comfort and all sorts of respectable entertainment for the public in Mariupol."
At different times in the park was Archeib Quindze, Konstantin Bogayevsky, Alexander Serafimovich and Alexei Novikov-Priboi. Grand Duke Konstantin Nikolaevich, son of Emperor Nicholas I, in 1872 visited Mariupol and planted two figures in the city park.
