  The biggest animal park in Ancona

  The building has more than 200 specimens including mammals, birds, reptiles and amphibians. Many species are classified according to the IUCN Red List as being vulnerable to extinction in the wild. Conservation of threatened species is one of the challenges raised by the park, which since 2001 has funded more than 10 conservation projects on site, earmarking several thousand euros in recent years. Three conservation projects are currently being pursued. The park promotes leopard, giraffe and okapi protection campaigns.
  The staff of the structure collaborate in scientific research with various Italian universities. A study of cheetah eating habits conducted at the zoo by a student from the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Camerino was published in international journals. The building also houses many high school and university students for dissertations and internships.
  There are many activities available, from Sundays (April to September) on “Nature and Biodiversity”, from summer camps, to AperiZoo, behind-the-scenes guided tours, and theatrical performances.
