The zoo was born out of our passion for animals. It was opened to the public in March 1998, but was already present for many years as a private park. Spread over 40,000 square meters, it is home to hundreds of animal species that have attempted to recreate ideal habitats, among ponds, rocks, waterfalls, meadows, trees and shrubs that provide visitors with stunning colors in all seasons. Moreover, the park has been enriched by more than 500 species of plants, including aquatic plants, ferns, palms, conifers and broad-leaved trees wisely arranged along the paths.
For the most interested visitor since 2009 (Charles Darwin's Bicentennial Year), there is a possibility to visit the Cappeller Museum, a development dedicated to two-storey development, on a total area of 2,400 square meters. At the conclusion of his most famous book The Origin of Species (1859), Darwin wrote: "There will be a lot of light on human origin and history ...". From that year to today, knowledge has increased substantially, although it is still incomplete, so our museum wants to contribute to the dissemination of knowledge with this "light", to which many preconceptions are still attracted.
After visiting the prehistoric chamber, the path continues with animal rooms, with more than 4,000 galleries, one of the largest scientific collections in the national territory. With the opening of the new section devoted to invertebrates in April 2016, a journey opens into the world of microorganisms, where in addition to real insects, you can admire the expanded insured reconstruction to better understand the complex and wonderful anatomy.
