A model of the French garden

The general concept of the park is attributed to Francesco Maria Castelli of Castel San Pietro, a trusted member of the Borromeo family, including Tempito del Faun, Seraglio de Servi, Cage Pavilion and Fontana del Mascheron.

In the second half of the 17th century, Carlo IV Borromeo Ariz built the "Rojia Boromia", which fed irrigated grass and a mill and was an important hydraulic work for the management of water games. He also created a fine Roman-style fountain, decorated with two sculptures of beauty in a basket, complemented by an aquarium where water is collected for underground filtration and reaches a large fish pond called the "Goldfish tank".

Sensitive to the modern French garden model and its long pivotal views, Charles IV Borromeo Ariz also provided a route of trumpet trees that reached the forest, spreading outlets and temples at the arrival or departure points of the roads.
