This public park was built at the site of the former municipal slaughterhouse or escorxador in Spanish.
Today it is one of the largest parks in the city and occupies the equivalent of four city blocks of the Eixample district.
It has gardens and many trees, especially Mediterranean plants, abundant pine trees, vineyards and vineyards.
