This site is a mosaic of environments that are of scientific interest. The diversity of terrain, soil and climate allows the existence of different biotopes that is to say environments offering living conditions determined for animals and plants. Each biotope is defined by characteristic plants, which include aquatic and riparian ecosystems, combes, the moorland, the north hillside (the oak grove, shale slopes, quarries), and the southern hillside (chestnut grove, mixed hardwoods).
