The Huguenot fountain was designed by Elias Räntz in 1706. On the lowest level members of noble Huguenot families are represented, in the middle antique deities and above all margrave Christian Ernst himself. The equestrian statue of Margrave Christian Ernst (for structural reasons unfinished) is also from Räntz (1711/12) and a sandstone block from the quarries hewn at Burgberg. The palace garden was converted into an English landscape garden in the eastern part between 1786 and 1826. He has been open to the population since 1849. In June, the university's Schlossgartenfest takes place here as a social highlight.
