One of the largest parks in Remscheid

The city park offers Ramsheed residents all the entertainment qualities of the center of the city center. The park contains u.a. Stage, playground, specialty gardens and a large sports complex. It was built in 1896 by a beauty association and was given to the citizens of the city.

The Schützenplatz is located next to the city park and is home to many major events such as exhibitions, circus etc. and an indoor pool.

    Beauty Club
Plan for the city park of 1885
In 1885 a beauty club was established in Remscheid. After completion of the park was given to the Remscheid citizens with a condition to maintain them permanently. Carl Hessenbruch, Johann Peter Arns and Julius Koch are the founders of the city park.

Originally, the garden above the pool was provided with a tourist restaurant. In the 1950s, this had to give way to the current drinking water tank.

However, Schützenhaus still offers food in the immediate watershed area of the city park.

A long-standing garden in the city garden
The park itself is equipped with a pool *, 2014 renovated playground and theater event ("shell concert"). Many effects can be found. There are also three dedicated gardens.

Next to Schützenplatz there is the observatory Dr. Hans Schäfer managed by the Astronomical Society Remscheid. It is available for citizens to inspect at certain times.

In the central area down the stadium there is a permanent park with a war memorial. This area, full of fountains and water features in earlier times, is now home to forest and plant areas.

However, it offers, especially after its redesigned core in 2009, a high quality of accommodation.

The spacious areas of the city garden feature a forest-like feel and provide a high level of relaxation in the center of the city center. Although the "Kirill" storm has devastated vast areas in 2007, the new plantations under the permanent park in 2009 will restore this character in the future.

New in 2018: The famous barbecue area is located in Schützenplatz, about 70 meters northwest of the observatory. Hans Schäfer. The landmark dog meadow is located in Julius-Kush-Vijg, about 60 meters northeast of the concert shell.

The pool does not look like it used to, but it's old. Since the pond does not have a seal on the ground, they constantly lose water. Due to the city's inability to recharge expensive fresh water, it is now largely immersed. In order for the pool to look good again, it must be rehabilitated. So far, the money was missing. Until the funding is determined after, the time will be used and the renewal will be prepared by. By planting rape seeds with oilseeds, water was removed from the mud and organic matter removed. This technique is called Sumer.

    Garden senses

In 2006, in addition to the concert cover, the senses park, initiated by the Disability Advisory Council in Remeshide, was completed.

In the heart of Garden of the Senses are four square-shaped beds in a square-paved area. In the middle of the square stand stands a well column.

The family was originally planted under the eyes, feeling, smells, tasting and listening, from the shaft of the well flowing with medium-speed water, causing a background noise.

After many damage to the vandalism, private agriculture was abandoned as well as running the well 2010 for financial reasons. The destructive guidance system is also frequently abandoned visually impaired.
