Pomology is the study of the types and varieties of fruit as well as their determination and systematic attitude. The name derives from the Latin "Pomum" = tree fruit. In addition, "Pomona" is the goddess of garden fruits.
Fruit trees have always been the heart of the Pomological Institute and the park area that still exists today.
