Centrally located green area is a popular destination
Since 1905, the Schillerwiese was guarded, as horses gnawed the trees and dogs strayed through the park. The first park attendant was Adolf Apel, who earned two marks a day and got 20 pfennigs per captured dog. A second was added in the following year. Until about 1960 there was a park guard with service dog for the Levin Park and the gravel sail area.
