The oldest green area of Göttingen
In the middle of the 18th century, the city was softened. In particular, the university, founded in 1734, demanded that the cityscape be made more attractive by creating gardens and avenues. In 1765, the planting of the wall began. The result was a double-row avenue of summer linden trees, a total of about 460 trees. Later, one set up stone tables and benches.
