The Schlossgarten Oldenburg is one of the most important historical gardens in Germany. The garden is designed with a variety of shapes and colors by Duke Peter Friederich Ludwig as an English natural garden. The spacious meadows feature their giant trees, winding paths, garden features and lush flower beds. Especially rhododendrons bloom attracts many visitors every year. Historic buildings such as Hofgärtnerhaus, Teepavillon or Winterhaus are in keeping with the garden landscape. During its 200 years of existence, the park has experienced only a few interventions, offering itself almost unchanged today, partly even in the original tree-visitor attitudes. Since 1978, it is a listed building and offers itself to the visitor at the same time as a garden artwork and recreation area.
