    Green Bridge

The Green Bridge, which brings pedestrians safely from Mainzer Neustadt across Rheinallee to the banks of the Rhine, was designed by the famous environmental artist Dieter Magnus in the late 1970s.

To create a green hub from the central Goetheplatz across Sömmeringplatz to Feldbergplatz and the banks of the Rhine River, the Green Bridge was built. According to the environmental artist's determination to cover as many plant areas as possible, there are many trees and tendons on the green bridge. In addition to the inviting seats with the sump fountain and waterfall, two wells to stay.
The Green Bridge area is managed by Natureschutzbund (NABU) Mainz. The cultivation of native wild plants and nesting sites have led to the emergence of diverse habitats.

The types of berries "Mainzer Waldfee", the velvet rose "Finther Zwerg" as well as the local local varieties of rose climbing dog can be admired here. Nectar-rich wild plants act as insect food germs, such as a bee or a large wool bee. Many insects are attracted to miniature bats, which are mounted on two sides of the waterfall.

On the butterflies fluttering in the summer of Little Kohlweißling, C-Butterfly and Little Fox. Even birds, such as the Black Bird, embrace intense hedging in the natural area. Stadtimkerei on the Green Bridge offers a special natural experience, with four bee hives holding 200,000 honey bees.
