The trees in Lübeck's youngest park are still a bit green behind the ears - the people in the new university district, however, the Carlebachpark have assumed, as if he had been there long before them. He has only since 2005 connected the University Hospital with the campus area, an adjacent residential area and the business center of the rapidly growing district. In 2007, the initiative »Germany - Land of Ideas« honored Carlebachpark as part of its ideas competition.
Essential design features for the clearly structured park are its open and straightforward layout and the differentiated use of trees. Esplanades and promenades shaded by maple trees are arranged around a wide meadow area. The meadow itself descends towards the center like a valley. Amber trees, purple ash trees or marshy oaks keep their eyes open at striking points.
