Is one of the oldest parks in Freiburg

From the second half of the nineteenth century systematic greening of the city began. Renewal of urban forests - in particular Schlossberg, Sirenfeld, Waldzigend and the founding of Stuttgart - clearly illustrates the beginning of this development.

Her name is "Mösle", I. Small algae forest Unlike the large algae forest in the west of the city, it owes abundant water. Under the roof of the gardens are the oldest springs of the city.

The park was built in the area that originally belonged to the city's forest from the facilities in and around the Waldsee area, which was established after 1879 at the initiative of the Freiburg City Beautification Society. The subsequent planning and maintenance of Möslepark was carried out by the city gardener at that time Maximilian Wilhelm Schmöger. Inspired by the idea of a popular park in the mid-19th century, the design of the popular park was inspired by the idea of a popular park in the mid-19th century: while Renaissance and Baroque gardens were largely reserved for nobles, popular gardens must also be available to the general public and the need for more public green spaces to accommodate rapidly growing cities.

Originally, the park was designed late, in a planned style for a landscaped garden whose exact engineering design was preserved even after the reorganization after the First World War. The ancient population of oak trees and trumpet columns was included in the design and was complemented by some exotic materials. The garden design is in accord with an English landscape garden with light and shadow interaction.

Möslepark is part of the Lorettoberg-Günterstal-Littenweiler landscape protection area with a total area of 20.2 hectares.

Walking in the park is the first of the dense old trees. They are mainly oak and ocher bournolite with permeable areas of Rhododendron and Azalea shrubs. The garden is widely maintained and can be classified as natural vegetation with a few exotic plants and ornamental beds.
