In the 14th century, the first bird tower was built by a monastery close to a piece of forest. By the way, its name comes from the Middle Ages, where shrubs and forests were called Birdong.
Over the centuries, the park was repeatedly destroyed, but every time it was rebuilt again.
It was first opened to the public in 1722 and has since been a place to meet "simple people". After 1841, when the city of Magdeburg was taken over from the monastery, the park was created in its form which still exists to a large extent.
Today, especially park-like areas and numerous private gardens such as Rose Garden with pergola and fountain, garden sink, Heather Park and Rhododendortal.
