His house was built by architect Friedrich Waesemann
Arndt called his house after a small forest piece "Lülo" on the island of Rügen as a reminder of his childhood. He wrote to his sister on September 26, 1818: "I yearn out into the open (...) The stain is by the way now a vineyard and has the magnificent splendor of the Siebengebirge with its forest chain and its castles and the proud ruins of the old castle Godesberg yourself."
