On June 16, 1979, the recreation area was officially inaugurated. The expansion costs amounted to a whopping 3.3 million marks, 80,000 trees and shrubs were replanted. The nine-kilometer network of trails opens up large, attractive forest and meadow areas with a variety of seating options. Visitors can easily reach the neighboring recreation areas Hardtbergwald and Kottenforst on foot or by bicycle. An allotment garden and three reservoirs, which are used by the Angelsportverein, complement the leisure facilities for the quiet rest in the Derletal. Play and sports facilities are affiliated.
