A modern recreational area
The lake has an area of 10.43 hectares and serves as a recreational area. The area around the lake is bounded on the west by the A 43, in the south by the B 226, in the east by an adjacent commercial area and in the north by the railway line Essen-Überruhr-Bochum-Langendreer.
