Idealized Lower Saxony floodplain landscape
The nutrient-rich underground allows a species-rich flora and fauna. This particular value of the park was already recognized in the 19th century. The park's wildlife includes 48 species of birds and 8 native 18 species of bats. The problem in recent years has been the large population of greylag populations, which contributed to the nutrient enrichment of the pond, the extermination of riparian vegetation and the displacement of other waterbirds.
