The Maschpark was planned and executed around 1900 in direct connection with the construction of the New Town Hall by garden director Julius Trip. The center of the park is an artificial pond with many indentations and projections, which narrows laterally under an arch bridge and then merges into a second scenic basin. The route is usually oriented to the pond shores, and from different points of view, attractive views on an effective planting, which sets the scene in the park, and on the New Town Hall of the city of Hannover. On an elevated vantage point stands the sculpture Scottish Cross by Henry Moore. The Maschpark is the link between the inner city and the natural Leineaue.
